Brood Horror is a Skaven Monstrous unit introduced in The Twisted and the Twilight DLC.

Description[edit | edit source]

Brood Horrors are the greatest and most bloated of the Giant Rat species, created and formed when one of the litter begins to mutate extraordinarily fast and begins to feast and devour the rest of its litter, growing at an alarming rate whilst increasing in both strength and savagery.

Due to the creature's reputation, Brood Horrors are highly prized by their Moulder Masters and are only traded to the greatest of the Warlord Clans, for only they have the wealth to pay for their exorbitant prices. Many pay entire fortunes of Warpstone or thousands of slaves in order to get the chance for the creature to be used as powerful mounts of war by many aspiring Skaven Warlords. Other times they are simply prodded into the battlefield and sent towards their enemies in a killing frenzy, tearing and grinding everything in their path.

Attributes[edit | edit source]

  • Very Fast: This unit can run circles around most other units, taunting and harrassing the enemy or evading its missile fire.
  • Armour-Piercing: The damage of armour-piercing weapons mostly ignores the armour of the target, making them the ideal choice against heavily-armoured enemies. They are often heavier and attack at a slower rate though, making them less efficient against poorly-armoured targets.
  • Causes Terror: This unit can cause terror, making its melee target rout for a short time. Units that cause terror are immune to terror and fear themselves.
  • Deathblow: Some units simply fight to the bitter end - Sometimes beyond that! Imminent death only makes them fight harder. When killed in melee, this unit launches a final attack with its dying breath.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Strategy[edit | edit source]

The Brood Horror brings significant speed as well as the tenacity of regeneration and poison, which makes the Horror very difficult to destroy. Its weaknesses are its low armour (40) and its low leadership which enable it to be broken much easier than fully depleting its health.
